In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering around and fixing things, as well as woodworking. He worked in the technology department at Galena USD 499 for 23 years, retiring in 2019.
He went on to attend Franklin Technical Institute where he received his certification in electronics. He graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1970. Steve was born in Joplin, MO, to the union Lee Phipps and Ferrol Odessa (Allen) Phipps.
